Important security notice for Windows 7:
Windows 7 has reached End of Support from Microsoft as of January 14, 2020. Microsoft has published relevant information about this here. Because Windows 7 has reached End of Support, any security vulnerabilities may never be patched and so it is critical to upgrade to a supported version of Windows ASAP.
If you are looking for VPN client installation steps for a device not running Windows 7, see our VPN Client Installation knowledge base article.
For VPN client access on Windows 7, three components must be installed on your device. Steps to connect to each of these are below:
The Cisco AnyConnect VPN client (requires administrative privileges)
The Cisco AnyConnect configuration profile (requires administrative privileges)
Once the setup steps above are complete, you can now connect to the VPN.
Connecting to the VPN
Open the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.
Ensure your company name is selected in the dropdown box, and click Connect.
The VPN Client window will automatically minimize itself out of view once it has successfully connected. You're now connected to the VPN.
Disconnecting from the VPN
Locate the Cisco AnyConnect tray icon. Right click it and click 'Disconnect'.
